My Partner. Philip Munro. Died 13.1.89. Aged 34. Was created five years after the death of my partner. I’d studied composition for a few years and this painting was the first time I’d felt confident enough to put what I’d learned into a reality. A bed kept appearing from sketching or doodling and eventually I realized it was something I had to do. It was and still is obviously important to me and was another checkpoint on the grieving road….making an Aids quilt panel was another, taking his ashes to Ayers Rock was another…..and gradually I felt like me again, a different me, more able to deal with other people’s upsets, able to help..I think. More about this in my ‘About Me’ page. I regard this as my first 'grown up' painting.
